Before considering a replacement, one question: is your computer still running on a mechanical hard drive? If so, moving to an SSD transforms it - a two-minute start-up drops to fifteen seconds, with nothing to reinstall and nothing lost. It is by far the best ratio of cost to result, and it extends the life of a machine by several years.

Cost against value. If the repair comes to more than a third of the price of an equivalent new machine and the computer is several years old, replacing becomes more sensible. Below that, repairing is the right call, financially and environmentally.
The state of everything else. Replacing a screen on a machine whose battery, keyboard and hinge are worn makes no sense: each repair on its own is defensible, the sum of them is not.
