We come to you, with your own equipment, your own connection and your own habits. That is often what makes it possible to solve what remote support cannot see.
A computer does not break down in a vacuum: it is plugged into one particular router, connected to one particular printer, used in one particular way. Many problems only occur in that environment. That is the whole point of home IT support, and why it remains our main way of working with households in Lyon and the Rhône.
The vast majority of jobs fall into a few families of fault, which we come across every week:
The first conversation happens by phone or through the contact form. Describe the symptom as precisely as you can: what happens, since when, and what changed just before. That description already points the diagnosis and lets us arrive with the right equipment.
On site, we always start with a diagnosis. It takes around thirty minutes and serves to identify the real cause, not to pile up fixes at random. A computer that is slow because its disk is dying is not treated like a computer that is slow because twenty programs launch at startup - and confusing the two wastes everyone's time.
Once the diagnosis is made, we explain what we found in plain language and give you a quote before any repair. You then decide. If the fault goes beyond what can be handled on site - stripping the machine down, soldering, delicate data recovery - we suggest a workshop drop-off, and you leave with a timescale and a figure.
If your data is not backed up anywhere and the machine shows the slightest sign of weakness, we secure your documents before undertaking anything at all. That is a rule with no exceptions. A reinstall launched on a failing disk turns a repairable incident into permanent loss, and it is the situation we most often see happen to people who have tried on their own.
Three reasons, all very concrete.
The context is there. A printer that goes “offline” every week, Wi-Fi that drops out in one room only, a badly placed router: these problems do not exist anywhere but at your place. Taking the machine to the workshop would mean testing it in an environment where it works perfectly.
Nothing gets lost. No cables to unplug, no computer to carry, no peripherals left behind. For a tower connected to two monitors, a printer and an external disk, that is far from a detail.
You see what is being done. And you can ask questions as we go. A good part of our work is explaining - why the machine was slowing down, what to avoid, how to check a backup. That part does not travel down a phone line.
We work with households as well as with small organizations: professional practices, shops, tradespeople, non-profits. The needs differ - a practice cannot go a day without its business software - but the method stays the same: diagnosis, explanation, quote, work. For businesses with several machines, see our page on business IT support.
We will tell you. An email setting, a light clean-up, configuring a printer already on the network, a display problem: many situations are sorted out in twenty minutes by remote support, with no visit and therefore at lower cost. We only propose a visit when it genuinely brings something.
Lyon and the whole metropolitan area: Villeurbanne, Caluire-et-Cuire, Tassin-la-Demi-Lune, Écully, Bron, Vénissieux, Saint-Priest, Oullins, Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon, Rillieux-la-Pape. And more widely the Rhône, out to Villefranche-sur-Saône, Chazay-d'Azergues, L'Arbresle and the Beaujolais. The full list is on our towns we cover page.
Two things will save you time, and sometimes save you the visit altogether. Restart the machine fully - not sleep, a real restart: a surprising share of problems disappear that way. And note the exact symptom: “it stopped working” points nowhere, “it powers on, the fans spin, but the screen stays black” points somewhere immediately. Our Problems & solutions section sets out the useful checks for around fifty common faults.
Yes. We identify the cause and give you a quote before any repair. You are free to say no: nothing is charged if you do not go ahead.
Yes, and it is better that way. You know the machine's history, your passwords stay in your hands, and you see what is being done to your data.
Our hours cover a wide range, six days a week. For an urgent situation, say so at the first contact: see our emergency IT support page.
No. We only reach files when the work requires it - a backup or a transfer - and never their contents. Your documents remain yours.
